ABU is an Ambassador from Nigeria, the language he was speaking has no name and he thinks it odd that I should think it might. The Adventurist

The Adventurist is a comic about a man whose sole purpose is to go on adventures. It is going to be of a realist-fantastical genre, kind of like Indiana Jones but with more technology and a bit less serious, and probably a bit of comedy. The excitement and action will come in the situations and strange things The Adventurist encounters in his journeys.

His name is Kjell (pronounced “shell”) Newcastle and his story will be revealed throughout the series. He is a journalist for the world-renowned naturalist periodical Planets and Other Places. He has a friend and partner named Aurelio Ribadaneira who is a photographer and digital artist extraordinaire. They report from the furthest edges of Earthly existence, and have a damn good time as well!

What's weird is that sometimes it felt like a balloon. Sometimes it felt like a golf ball. But he could always get it to the plate. Getting it over the plate was another matter entirely. Sometimes he couldn't see the hitter. Sometimes he couldn't see the catcher. But if he could see the hitter, he'd guess where the catcher was. And he had a great catcher back there. Jerry May. You could make mistakes with him, and he would compensate. He'd know if he called for a curveball, he could look at the follow-through of your arm and see if you were gonna hang it. So he'd get ready to slide and block. Also, he had this reflective tape on his fingers that was by far the easiest thing to see.

Ellis had no idea what the score was, and he knew he'd been wild--he ended with eight walks, one hit batsman and the bases loaded at least twice--but here it was, bottom of the seventh, and he was still in the game.

The hardest part was between innings. He was sure his teammates knew something was up. They had all been acting strange since the game began. Solution: Do not look at teammates. Do not look at scoreboard. Must not make eye contact. His spikes--that's what he concentrated on. Pick up tongue depressor, scrape the mud, repeat. Must. Clean. Spikes.

Sometime in the fifth or sixth, he sensed someone next to him. Looking. He turned. It was rookie infielder Dave Cash.

"Dock," Cash said. "You've got a no-hitter going."

Cash, apparently unaware of the (insanely well-known) superstition that a pitcher never talks about a no-hitter until it's complete for fear of jinxing it, was immediately piled upon by several outraged teammates. Ellis, meanwhile, looked at the scoreboard.

Huh.

Yeah.

After the eighth, during which he'd watched outfielder Matty Alou snag an almost certain base hit, Ellis walked off the field and looked Cash straight in the eye.

"Still got my no-no!" Ellis declared.

So yeah ya know, same as it ever was: MC Ben & I working on the cross word whilst respectfully perusing titties on the world wide web, and thus come Harris bragging about his amazing mystical powers! Woke up choking! Sick, dizzy, not my room, “where am I?” and at that, naked too! Grabbed my shorts, Lungs airless, & legged it to the john for to barf out the blockage. “BOOOAAAAK!!” She comes in concerned, giving care, for a moment suitable ruach (a breath) & then (again) the wind pipe stops. Swallowed hard. Harder. HARDEST! A nice girl, takes me back to bed, rubs my chest, I remember the night: A party somewhere, FOUND: an abandoned keg, and myself at 18 a thirsty drunk (and not w/out some talent!) Made it home somehow & in sky high spirits, she asked me in, obliged. (w/ gusto!) My First Times. (Though that the other night before she had slid me in unaware, ridden a moment yet, girls are allowed to rape boys, nay, encouraged!)

Taking stock: Just friends, warm in bed, something in my throat, excused myself that I might get sorted, back to my own “crib”. [it being the very late 90s & all] First things first, try again to yak out the trouble, did so: large lump rises out my gullet & into my mouth:

GRAB IT! (Got it.) PULL IT! (Uguchlchk!)

What thoughts (if any) were had about dis revoltin’ development?

Proposed course of action?

Make a tea, smoke a bowl, let it be.

Girl next door thinks otherwise, called Grandfather M.D. “Rush him to the hospital.” Whisked away by Shannon & Diane, angels both. The Brooklyn emergency room in perfect chaos (Yankees World Seriesing as we speak) Mets fan ran an IV talking shit, I tell him “look”. My vein blew up like a frickin’ ping pong ball! “is it okay if I pass out?” fading into sick lightness “No.” Didn’t. Doctor supposes I’ve come down with a severe case of too much drink. Given something to knock me out/fight infection.

Nurse takes me into a small recovery room, tells me to get some rest. The meds kick in STRONG, ready to shut off...BUT! Look! The IV line’s too short. Can’t sleep or the line rips out, fought it an hour, couldn’t even shout. Gripped the Bar, Just Hold On! A Study In Eternity. (I’d seen a Batman Cartoon once w/ him in a similar situation, the idea being that if the line ripped out he’d die, (air straight to heart?) that being the impression I was under, when I asked Mike he said it was bullshit, so it almost certainly is!) Nurse comes in, I weakly gesture my situation, she freaks! Problem fixed, I pass OUT.

Woke to a very worried Shannon & Diane (angels both, worth repeating) Given soup, hugs, couldn’t thank them enough. Feeling better, though at the very least; Frazzled. Taken home (In time for Futurama) Incapacitated in my bed, well spent, She walks in slowly & quietly, Aww fuck: I forgot. She sat & again gave care. Was I okay? Yeah, I was, thank you. Two smiles. Life is fun.

Just after having seen Our Lady of Outer Space (Okey-Dokey IV) I went into about a 20 minute fit of hysterics, I couldn't find anything that wasn't hilarious! I look down at my arm and see a brood of bugs writhing within my veins (tickles!) & then even further see my arm as covered with spiders (My cackle deepens!) and then my arm as comprised OF spiders, (HOWL!) each atom a crawling web spinner swarming as busy buzzing chaos! : ) "Hey Brendan! I'm Spider-Man!" He grunts humorously, busy w/ his own business presumably, "Hey Brendan! Say you're Spider-Man!" Him not paying much attention to me, but I'm too happy to be ignored, and I demand & prod & insist until he finally admits he's a Spider-Man.

and we're all Spider-Men.
